A two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 243 and County Road 63 resulted in minor injuries to the driver of a Ford Taurus, Brooke McClung, 17 of Haleyville. Traveling south on County Road 63, Brooke was crossing Highway 243 when her solid black Taurus was struck on the passenger side by a south bound GMC pickup pulling a fishing boat. The driver, Danny Mertens, 56, Houston was heading home after fishing all day at Wheeler Lake. Both vehicles had two additional passengers, none of whom reported any injuries. Pebble firemen, on their way home from a funeral home visitation for a former fellow fireman, stopped to work the wreck dressed in their white shirts and ties. It made a most unusual accident scene.
